Position Overview

The NoMa Community Partnership Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships between the library and the diverse communities it serves. This position leads strategic partnership development, coordinates outreach initiatives, and promotes library programs and services to increase community awareness, participation, and equitable access to resources offered through the NoMa Library.

The North Market (NoMa) Library Hub is a state-of-the-art, community-centered branch designed in partnership with residents, civic leaders, government agencies, and private sector stakeholders. Serving as a liaison, the coordinator plays a key role in fostering collaboration, strengthening these partnerships while advancing the library’s mission throughout the North Market corridor.

More than a traditional library, NoMa serves as a dynamic hub for learning, creativity, entrepreneurship, and civic connection. Its flexible, purpose-built spaces are designed to inspire bakers, makers, readers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders while supporting innovation, economic opportunity, and lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in planning and facilitating educational, cultural, literacy, workforce development, and wellness-focused programs for diverse community audiences.
  • Develop and implement community engagement and outreach strategies to increase public awareness, participation, and library usage of the Community Kitchen, Café, Makerspace, Studio, and other opportunities within the NoMa Hub.
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with schools, nonprofit organizations, community groups, government agencies, businesses, and local stakeholders to support community-centered initiatives and services.
  • Support community needs assessments, listening sessions, surveys, and informal feedback efforts to help inform outreach priorities, programming decisions, and service development.
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of outreach and communication materials, including flyers, resource guides, presentations, newsletters, and promotional content.
  • Collect and maintain data related to outreach activities, program attendance, partnerships, and community impact; prepare reports and summaries as needed.
  • Participate in system-wide outreach initiatives and support collaboration across library branches and departments.
  • Assist with volunteer engagement efforts and community-based initiatives that support the mission and goals of the NoMa Hub.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and engage diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of community outreach, engagement strategies, and public service practices.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and digital communication tools.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Administration, Education, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in community engagement, outreach, programming, public relations, or related work preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

This position requires flexibility, including occasional evenings and weekends, and comfort working in a highly collaborative, innovative, and community responsive environment.
