POSITION: Media Design Specialist
HOURS: 25 hours per week
LOCATION: Wilmington Public Library, 10 E. 10th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801
JOB SUMMARY:
The Media Specialist is responsible for developing, managing, and executing the library’s digital media presence to promote programs, services, and resources. This role oversees content creation, social media management, digital campaigns, and promotional materials to enhance brand visibility, increase community engagement, and drive traffic to library platforms and branches. The Media Specialist ensures consistent, accessible, and strategic messaging across all digital and print channels.
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Community Engagement.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Develop and manage digital content across multiple platforms, including the library’s website and social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube), to engage diverse audiences and promote programs, events, and resources.
- Create and implement content strategies aligned with Wilmington and North Branch initiatives, as well as broader community engagement priorities.
- Schedule and publish content; monitor and moderate comments; respond to audience interactions; and maintain an active, professional online presence.
- Plan, execute, and oversee digital media campaigns to enhance brand visibility, promote library services, and increase program attendance. Track engagement metrics and optimize content performance, including boosted and paid content.
- Design and produce event flyers, signage, and digital assets for both print and online distribution.
- Manage and coordinate the distribution of promotional materials through branch communications, email campaigns, and social media channels.
- Coordinate outreach to local news outlets and media partners to promote library programs, events, and initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should be able to:
- Learn library communication and branding procedures
- Maintain accurate records, analytics, and project documentation
- Provide excellent public service and represent the library professionally across all platforms
- Work collaboratively with library staff and community stakeholders
- Communicate clearly, creatively, and effectively in digital and print formats
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma required
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Media, or related field preferred
Experience in social media management, digital content creation, or communications preferred
