Summer Reading – Build a Better World

build-better-world-350This summer’s reading theme, “Build a Better World” encourages us to look at our home, community and planet.  Register and Log your reading from June 1st to August 12th.   You can earn great incentives and prizes along the way.

To make the Program easier to use –  the Summer Reading Program is online.  You can track and log your progress from any mobile device or computer with internet access.   Just go to http://nccde.beanstack.org to register and get started.  If you wish to do it in person, please visit the Reference Department or Youth Services Desk and they can assist you.

*The first 20 adults who register with the Wilmington Library can collect a Tote from the Reference Desk.

Adults who register and select “Wilmington Library” as their home Library earn virtual tickets for a drawing at the end of the summer.  The first ticket is earned after reading and logging at least 4 books.  A virtual ticket will be earned for each additional book you log.  So, the more you  read, the better your chances of winning!

  • First Place Prize is Admission for two to Longwood Gardens and a canvas tote.
  • Second Place Prize is admission for two to Wintherthur and a canvas tote.
  • Third place is a copy of “The Twelve Tribes of Hattie” by Ayana Mathis and a canvas tote.

The Library will have events all summer long to help you “Build a Better World.”

As part of the Summer Reading Program, the Wilmington Public Library is sponsoring a “Build it Better – 3D Print Challenge”!

Libraries have always been about telling stories.  Come and explore virtual reality to see how stories can be told and experienced in the future. The Commons, 1st floor.   No registration required.

I’ve Been Working on the Railroad
Wednesday, June 28th @ 10:00 am
Members from Marshall Steam Museum will get kids up and moving while learning about what life was like on the railroad.  Make and take craft included.
Ages 5+ Registration is required.
